Escaping to Blackwood Forest

I recently took a trip to Blackwood Forest in Hampshire for a four day break, I had such a lovely time and I already want to go back. Forest Holidays in Blackwood Forest is a beautiful location set in 270 hectares of Beech Forest, with 60 cabins on site. Forest Holidays have nine sites around Britain so there are many locations around to see which is closest to you, we live in London so Blackwood Forest in Hampshire was the perfect hour to two hours away by car. There are different types of cabins to choose from such as Golden Oak Hideaway, Golden Oak, Golden Oak Treehouse, Silver Birch and Copper Beech. We stayed at Blackwood Forest in Hampshire in a Golden Oak Cabin and Treehouse which sleeps 10 people, we just thought we would go all out since this was our first time visiting Blackwood Forest and in all honesty I really wanted the Treehouse bedroom. Forest Holidays gives you the options to add an Entertainment package to your stay which includes Wifi and movies etc, of course we needed internet to get those Instagram uploads hehe. The Entertainment package was perfect for a lovely cosy night in by the fire watching a film with the other half. Forest Holidays offer many activities and little extra touches that you can book before hand or whilst you're there from forest ranger activities, Bike hires, Pamper sessions such as in cabin massages. They also offer extra little touches such as Birthday cakes and wine if you're celebrating a special occasion, you could always surprise your other half or family member with a relaxing in cabin massage and some nice bubbly to relax with in the hot tub.

This was our first time visiting Blackwood Forest but we instantly knew it wouldn't be our last, each cabin is well spaced out and there is plenty of trees between to give you that extra bit of privacy. The Golden Oak cabins are complete with a lovely log fire and a hot tub. Our cabin was amazing, it was clean, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed.. from towels, robes and even your own packets of slippers which I now have a slight obsession with. In the Golden Oak Cabin there are four bedrooms which sleep two per room as well as three bathrooms in the main cabin. Stepping outside the backdoor was when I instantly thought wow.. I love it here, a massive hot tub all to our selfs looking out to a Forest in the peace and quiet was heaven. The decking is stunning and walking across the bridge to the treehouse was somewhat dreamy. The treehouse was Alice in Wonderland themed which was incredible and I truly was obsessed with it, every little detail that has gone into decorating the treehouse was just perfect.
The staff at Blackwood Forest are so friendly and helpful, when we first arrived checking in was a breeze we simply gave our name and because we had filled out all of the extra information online we was good to go, they gave us hand outs and a map of Blackwood Forest and any extra information such as takeaway nights and activities. Our cabin was spotless and I honestly couldn't fault it one bit. I loved the little extra touches such as the 'Welcome' written on the scrabble board as you entered the main living area, that was super nice. Forest Holidays offer many little luxury treats such as Movie Night's, Flowers, Chocolates, In cabin massages and your own Chef which you can either pre book or book whilst you're there. You can buy food at the Forest Retreat shop but we decided to take our own food but we did have a little browse around the food section and they honestly had everything you would need. Hiding out in a cabin with nothing but trees and birds is so peaceful, from the moment we arrived we instantly felt relaxed. Even though we visited in the colder months our stay was absolutely perfect and I couldn't of asked for a more relaxing calm get away with my boyfriend. The view from the decking was lovely over looking nothing but trees and blue skies was perfect. We went on lot's of Forest walks in our wellies, if you're planning a Forest Holiday be sure to take wellies and plenty of socks, you are also encouraged to bring a flashlight for night walks.
The minute you walk into the Cabin you feel warm and cosy. I loved the whole experience of staying in our Golden Oak Treehouse Cabin, but it was the little things that made everything even more special. The log burner was divine, after our long Forest Walks we would come home and light the fire, warm up while over looking a gorgeous view of the sun setting between the trees. We also took along some giant marshmallows to roast on the log burner which tasted amazing, the log burner was very relaxing and cosy in the evenings whilst tucked up under a blanket watching a film. The underfloor heating and the log burner keeps the cabin lovely and warm. Forest Holidays do supply you with one bag of logs so if do happen to run out you can purchase more from the Forest Retreat. Sitting in front of the log burner roasting marshmallows and warming up our feet after our forest walks was amazing on a cold Winter's day.

Our Cabin was absolutely amazing, it was super clean, spacious and everything was finished to an extremely high standard. The main living area had two super comfy sofa's and a lovely coffee table, a flat screen tv and of course the amazing log burner which we roasted marshmallows on after our long Forest walks. The kitchen was lovely and well equipped with a dishwasher, cutlery and everything you could possibly need to self cater in comfort and also a huge stunning dining table. The bathrooms were very modern and the decor was stunning, our main bedroom had beautiful big picture windows that over looked the outside decking into the forest. The beds were super comfy the rooms were very spacious, each room had it's own storage area to hang up or fold your clothes. The whole of the cabin has under floor heating which was absolutely lovely and also heated town racks in each bathroom. As we had booked the Golden Oak Treehouse Cabin we were given complimentary robes, slippers and towels which was super handy. I was so impressed with the small touches in the Cabin and Treehouse, I personally think they have decorated each room beautifully to a very high standard, the furniture is good quality, stylish and very comfortable.
The treehouse has it's own extra ensuite bedroom and bathroom which you access on a wooden walkway bridge. The treehouse was incredible and one of my favourite things about the whole stay at Blackwood Forest. It was decorated in an Alice and Wonderland theme which made the whole experience even more magical and adventurous. I love that they have given it the extra special fairy tale makeover to help you rediscover the magic of your childhood. The decor and design that has gone into building and decorating the treehouse is amazing, you can really see the time and thought into every little detail. I have always wanted to stay in a treehouse so I was super excited for this, my first thoughts when opening the door was wow, this is beautiful. The little details from the wardrobe door handles from the images on the wall just made it feel magical. There was also a electric heated burner in the Treehouse which warmed up the room instantly, it was a lovely touch while tucked up in bed watching a film. You also have your own little balcony outside the treehouse with some chairs to sit an relax. I was super impressed with our Golden Oak Treehouse, it was very luxurious and spacious.
I thought I would also share with you the products I used for my Morning Skincare routine whilst away at Blackwood Forest. Cleansing your face is super important even in the morning, I love to use the Garnier Micealler water as a morning cleanse, it's amazing at removing that extra dirt left on your face. I then decided to use the Sesha Renu Exfoliating Gel to give my skin a little tlc and remove any dead skin cells, the Sesha exfoliator uses natural papaya enzyme to gently remove dead cells and unclog pores. The Sesha Renu Exfoliating Gel is my all time favourite face exfoliator, it's super soft on the skin and the results are amazing. My moisturising choice of the morning was the Soap & Glory Speed Plump All Day Moisture Marvel, I absolutely love Soap & Glory and I'm now obsessed with their skincare range. The Speed Plump Moisture Marvel is a light weight yet amazing fast absorbing moisturiser that hydrates the skin. I love how quickly this absorbs into my skin and it instantly leaves my skin looking brighter and super hydrated. I of course couldn't go without using my all time favourite product the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, I love using this in the colder months as it keeps my lips super hydrated and soft and also works wonders on dry patches. I also was burning the Whiskey Wicks 'Walk In The Forest Park' scented candle which smells divine.
So while escaping to the Forest there were a few days that I really didn't feel like wearing makeup so I stayed face free to let my skin breath a little. I went for a very minimalistic look on the days I did wear makeup so here are a few products I took away with me. The decking outside the cabin was the perfect place to take photos hehe. For a base I went with the Chanel Le Blanc De Chanel Primer which has become an all time favourite of mine it creates a lovely illuminating base to apply your makeup, I love the look and feel of my makeup when using this, if you would like a full review on this be sure to let me know in the comments below. So my foundation choice was the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.. again another all time favourite of mine. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is oil free which I love, it's a super long lasting foundation that gives a lovely flawless finish so this truly was the perfect choice whilst going on long forest walks. I also brang along my Chanel Quad Eyeshadow palette which is absolutely stunning, I decided to go for a lovely golden eye look topped with the Yves Saint Laurent Luxurious Mascara for a false lash effect in the shade black, I love that this mascara gives you that false lash effect in just one stroke so it's super quick and easy to apply whilst leaving you with lovely long lashes. I kept my makeup very minimalistic while I was away as I didn't feel to be messing around with top eyeliner and contouring, so I decided to pop a little colour on my cheeks by using the Clarins Blush Prodigy Illuminating Cheek Colour in the shade Rose Wood, I absolutely love this blush as it's quite subtle and light weight but yet still gives you a lovely luminous finish. To finish off the look a lovely nude lipstick by Ted Baker.
Pamper nights in are my all time favourite thing to do, I love using and discovering new products so this was a perfect night in for me and too top it off we was in a gorgeous peaceful Forest with nothing but trees surrounding us. Forest Holidays kindly enough supply you with these lovely products from Anyah, they include shampoo, body wash and a bar of soap in every bathroom. The Anyah range smells divine, I decided to try out the body wash which felt super luxurious and left my skin smelling and feeling super soft. Face masks are the perfect Pamper night essential, I decided to use the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask which is one of my all time favourite face masks, it leaves my skin feeling super moisturised and cleansed and to top it off it smells divine. I simply smooth thick layers of the Antipodes Aura mask all over my face and leave it for around 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water and a muslin cloth.
A cosy pamper night would not be complete without burning a lovely luxurious candle. I decided to bring along the Birch & Brook 'Fireside' Scented Candle which smells incredible and leaves the whole room smelling for hours. The Birch & Brook range are luxury high quality natural candles with fragrances of uncommon depth and complexity. Birch & Brook use 100% natural wax made from GM free and certified vegan ingredients with a natural fibre wick for an even burn. Fireside is quite an intense smell but I personally love it and I don't own a candle quite like it. It has smoky top notes and a warm woody base. Fireside has top notes of Leather. Middle notes of Spice, Leather, Amber, Patchouli and Base notes of Wood, Cedarwood, Moss and Musk. This was the absolute perfect scent to be burning in the middle of a Forest with a log fire burning away. I love the design of the Birch & Brook range this candle now lives on my desk at home and it fits perfectly into my decor, it has a very simple design but yet looks very chic and modern. Birch & Brook have a variety of scents so be sure to check out the full range of candles at www.birchandbrook.com
Skincare is very important to me so at night is when I will go all out and use all of my favourite products. To cleanse and remove my makeup I used the Eve Lom Cleanser which is a luxurious product that decongests, softens and leaves a highly receptive base for your beauty products to work with. I have recently been using the Naobay Calming Face Toner which is a gentle yet effective toner that removes all traces of impurities and makeup. I love the feel and look of my skin since using the Naobay Toner is soothes and tones my skin beautifully. Skin Owl's Eye+ is a nourishing and stimulating eye concentrate that is packed with potent, all-natural actives to reinvigorate the skin around the eye area. My skin instantly feels cool once I've applied the Eye+ and I notice that the appearance of fine lines are minimised. Antipodes will always be one of my favourite skincare brands, I have been using the Antipodes Hosanna Serum for some time now and I have been loving the results. The Antipodes Hosanna H20 Skin Plumping Serum leaves my skin super hydrated and moisturised. To finish off I use the lovely Time Bomb Flashback Night Cream which acts like a paraffin hand plumping treatment for your face, it is infused with ultra rich ingredients to moisturiser your skin overnight. I notice a huge difference in the dewiness and health of my skin once I have used the Time Bomb Flashback Night Cream and I love it. Let me know in the comments below what products are in your night time skincare routine?! I would love to know.
Spending time with your family, friends or other half is super important, I know life can get in the way sometimes but I'm so glad me and my boyfriend took this time to have a lovely week away together and spend some quality time with one another, Forest Holidays is the perfect location to get away from your everyday life and treat yourself to a little break in a peaceful relaxing environment. The location was stunning in the heart of the Forest and of course our very own personal hot tub which was amazing, it made our evenings even more relaxing with a session in the hot tub which completely exceeded my expectations, it was divine. There were moments throughout our stay were I thought is this real?! Since coming home both of us are longing to go back and I'm sure that will happen sooner rather than later and we're already looking forward to our next escape with Forest Holidays. I absolutely loved my stay at Blackwood Forest, it was nice to escape to a lovely peaceful location where you can leave the world behind and enjoy nature and life's little luxuries.
Have you visited any of the Forest Holiday locations?
