Creating A Workspace

Today I thought I would share with you my desk area and give you a few tips for staying motivated while working from home. When I first started blogging I would settle anywhere I could find really with my laptop and type away for hours, often my bed or the sofa which worked for a while but then I found myself getting distracted or getting really bad back aches, which was not at all comfortable. At this point I knew I needed a dedicated space which would inspire me and be a productive place to work. My working area is currently apart of my bedroom until I can convince my sister to hand her room over to me hehe. Since my working area is apart of my bedroom I knew I had to separate my working and creative place from my relaxing space so this is why I decided to purchase a desk and an iMac, working from a desk is so much more rewarding and I feel so much more organised. Since I've got my desk and iMac I feel so much more comfortable and I love sitting here for hours on end editing photos, writing blog posts, replying to emails, watching youtube videos and of course getting distracted and making an order as long as my arm off feel unique. I couldn't be happier with my little work area it's apart of my room that brings me my creative eye and nothing makes me feel happier when I'm creating fresh good content for my blog.
My desk isn't the biggest of desks but it's actually the perfect size for my room as I didn't want it taking up massive amounts of room, therefore I opted for a table top and purchased some legs separately which are both from Ikea the links for the table top is here and the table legs here. Seeing as my desk space is limited due to my iMac I tried to keep it minimal and as clutter free as possible but also giving it my own personal feel and touch. A tidy desk helps me stay organised so not having piles of paper work or 20 notes books piled up really does help. Staying organised while working home is super important it helps you to stay motivated and have a clear mind. Since purchasing a weekly planner my schedule and to do lists are all in one place which is a huge help.
From time to time I do like to switch things up and change my desk around, I don't do this too often but I thought I'd show you another example of how I have my desk. Decorating my desk area was tricky as I mentioned it's not too big and I needed it as clutter free as possible. Creating a space you want to go to is key, I personally look forward to sitting at my desk every morning and evening while getting work done. I used to have this gorgeous lamp on my bed side table but now Autumn is here the evenings are get darker earlier so I decided to pop it on my desk for some extra light, I absolutely love the style and design of this lamp. I love quotes to help me stay motivated so I decided to print a few of my favourite quotes out from Pinterest, I then decided to use a clip board to display it on, I really like how this turned out and it's super easy to change up when I feel like it. Everyone needs a little greenery in their room, I adore Cacti and have around six in my room, I wish they loved me as much as I do them but I just cant seem to keep them alive. boohoo. Again another favourite of mine.. Candles, I burn them all throughout the year and I find them super relaxing, plus they smell divine. The candle I currently have on my desk is Roses from Diptyque. I then have a few of my favourite books and magazines which I love flicking through for inspiration and last but not least my baby.. My Olympus Pen E-PL7 a must have in my eyes, I'm obsessed with this camera and it's way too pretty not to have on display. So there we have my desk essentials, I really hope you enjoyed this style post and be sure to let me know how you stay organised in the comments below!

What are your desk essentials?

Fig + Yarrow Complexion Water

I discovered Fig + Yarrow a few months ago and so far I have been very impressed with the products I have been testing out. Fig + Yarrow is an artisan apothecary, handcrafted in small batches in Colorado, they use only the best botanical ingredients to benefit the skin. I have recently been using the Fig +Yarrow Complexion Water I’m a huge fan of complexion waters and facial mists, they're super handy to take on the go. The Fig + Yarrow Complexion Water (Yarrow/Immortelle/Rockrose) is designed to balance, tone and hydrate the skin. The Yarrow essential oil delivers a dry, smooth, herbal scent with balancing, soothing properties. The Immortelle essential oil offers bittersweet notes of warm spice, herbaceous floral and succulent earth which helps reduce visible signs of aging. The Rock Rose essential oils extend the delicate, uplifting floral scent while offering significant skin toning. The scent is very calming and is the perfect face mist for day and night, this blend is perfect for calming my skin down and it smells absolutely amazing.
The Fig + Yarrow Complexion Water can be used as a toner or simply as a mist to keep your skin feeling fresh and hydrated throughout the day. I tend to use mine at night as the scent is very relaxing and calming. I absolutely love how hydrated and smooth my skin feels after use. I simply spritz my whole face with the complexion water, it absorbs into the skin rather quickly and doesn't leave a greasy or sticky residue which I really like. The Fig + Yarrow Complexion Water is highly recommended for dehydrated, sensitive, and mature skin types. I absolutely love that it's suitable for all skin types. Fig + Yarrow have designed this complexion water with some additional aromatherapeutic benefits that are there to help soothe anxiety, lift your spirits and ease emotional transitions. Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Frizz AM/PM Treatments

Alterna haircare have been a favourite of mine for some time now, their products and super luxurious and always leave my hair feeling amazing after use. I have recently been using the Alterna Bamboo Smooth AM/PM Anti-Frizz Smoothing Treatments. Put frizz to bed with the Alterna haircare daytime/overnight system, it starts at night before bed and finishes up in the morning for an effortless, long lasting smooth look. This two step solution includes and overnight smoothing treatment and a daytime smoothing blowout balm. This anti frizz system helps your hair resist frizz and humidity for longer lasting sleek blow drys. "Say sweet dreams to your frizz and good morning to a sleek and smooth blowout".
The first step is the PM Overnight Smoothing Treatment which is to be used just before going to bed. The PM overnight smoothing treatment helps to start the smoothing process while you sleep. I simply apply the PM treatment overnight to dry hair just before bedtime. I distribute it evenly throughout my dry hair while mainly focusing on mid-lengths to ends I shall then leave it on overnight. It is designed to help protect and strengthen your hair while smoothing and adding humidity resistance. I was super impressed with the results after using the PM treatment, my hair felt smoother, softer once washed.
The second step is the AM Daytime Smoothing Blowout Balm which is clinically proven to provide frizz free, humidity proof hair for up to 72 hours, this balm completes the smoothing process and is to be used after washing your hair. The AM blowout balm seals in the smoothness for hair that lasts for days. In the morning I shall shampoo and condition my hair, I will then apply the AM Daytime Smoothing Blowout Balm throughout towel dried hair and blow dry it as I usually would.

I love that these Bamboo products are free of parabens & synthetic colour. I have quite thick hair and since it's summer my hair has been a tad frizzer than usual, so the Bamboo Anti-Frizz AM/PM treatments arrived at the perfect time. I have been very impressed with the results since using these two little gems, my hair feels softer and smoother. It definitely helps with humidity which I love. My hair hasn't felt or looked this healthy and shiny in such a long time and it's all thanks to the Bamboo treatments. If you have been looking for hair products that will help you to control frizzy hair then go and give these a go, they work wonders.

What are your thoughts on the Alterna Bamboo Smooth AM/PM Treatments?
