Creating A Workspace

Today I thought I would share with you my desk area and give you a few tips for staying motivated while working from home. When I first started blogging I would settle anywhere I could find really with my laptop and type away for hours, often my bed or the sofa which worked for a while but then I found myself getting distracted or getting really bad back aches, which was not at all comfortable. At this point I knew I needed a dedicated space which would inspire me and be a productive place to work. My working area is currently apart of my bedroom until I can convince my sister to hand her room over to me hehe. Since my working area is apart of my bedroom I knew I had to separate my working and creative place from my relaxing space so this is why I decided to purchase a desk and an iMac, working from a desk is so much more rewarding and I feel so much more organised. Since I've got my desk and iMac I feel so much more comfortable and I love sitting here for hours on end editing photos, writing blog posts, replying to emails, watching youtube videos and of course getting distracted and making an order as long as my arm off feel unique. I couldn't be happier with my little work area it's apart of my room that brings me my creative eye and nothing makes me feel happier when I'm creating fresh good content for my blog.
My desk isn't the biggest of desks but it's actually the perfect size for my room as I didn't want it taking up massive amounts of room, therefore I opted for a table top and purchased some legs separately which are both from Ikea the links for the table top is here and the table legs here. Seeing as my desk space is limited due to my iMac I tried to keep it minimal and as clutter free as possible but also giving it my own personal feel and touch. A tidy desk helps me stay organised so not having piles of paper work or 20 notes books piled up really does help. Staying organised while working home is super important it helps you to stay motivated and have a clear mind. Since purchasing a weekly planner my schedule and to do lists are all in one place which is a huge help.
From time to time I do like to switch things up and change my desk around, I don't do this too often but I thought I'd show you another example of how I have my desk. Decorating my desk area was tricky as I mentioned it's not too big and I needed it as clutter free as possible. Creating a space you want to go to is key, I personally look forward to sitting at my desk every morning and evening while getting work done. I used to have this gorgeous lamp on my bed side table but now Autumn is here the evenings are get darker earlier so I decided to pop it on my desk for some extra light, I absolutely love the style and design of this lamp. I love quotes to help me stay motivated so I decided to print a few of my favourite quotes out from Pinterest, I then decided to use a clip board to display it on, I really like how this turned out and it's super easy to change up when I feel like it. Everyone needs a little greenery in their room, I adore Cacti and have around six in my room, I wish they loved me as much as I do them but I just cant seem to keep them alive. boohoo. Again another favourite of mine.. Candles, I burn them all throughout the year and I find them super relaxing, plus they smell divine. The candle I currently have on my desk is Roses from Diptyque. I then have a few of my favourite books and magazines which I love flicking through for inspiration and last but not least my baby.. My Olympus Pen E-PL7 a must have in my eyes, I'm obsessed with this camera and it's way too pretty not to have on display. So there we have my desk essentials, I really hope you enjoyed this style post and be sure to let me know how you stay organised in the comments below!

  7. Gorgeous Emma! I must learn how to become more minimal! But I love keeping a container with pens on my desk so I can always grab one really quick when I'm going to jot something down in my planner or notebook!
